HMC 70 recording formats

[ggrantly]

Hello Listers,

Maybe this has been reported previously, but this came as a huge surprise to me.

The new HMC70, what I thought would be a shoulder mounted version of the HMC40, doesn't include the higher quality recording rates of the HMC40.

They build an incredible HMC40 cam and have the option to just repackage that into a different form factor. Instead they include built in XLRs and reduced recording quality. WTF Panna? Whose brainchild is that?

The HMC70 isn't new, it's old, it's older than the HMC150. It's being discontinued and replaced by the HMC80, and the HMC80 is a billion times better than the HMC70 ever was.

The HMC80 is exactly what you'd expect it to be and want it to be. It's a better HMC40.

Barry,

Got my numbers confused. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to chew my shoe.

Wow, a billion times better!!!!

That's a lot.

Just ribbing Barry here.

By the way, the HMC80 includes all the recording modes of the HMC40 AND includes SD recording modes.

Well, David, put on your calculus hat and do the math with me:
HMC70 has no 24p, it's 60i-only
HMC80 has 24p.

That right there has got to make it 700,000,000 times better, right?

Then add in all the other features, and I think a billion is just about right...
