HMC 150 rental Anyone?

I'm trying to help a friend find a place to rent HMC 150's We've sort of determined that its the perfect camera for an assignment he is about to undertake but no one in NYC seems to rent them. Can any one offer any pointers as to who might rent them? Rental house does not have to be in nyc as far as I'm concerned.

If you are going to shoot with an HMC150 for a week, doesn't it make more sense to simply buy a good one used, and sell it when you are finished, than spend $500 to rent one? Especially in a big city like NYC, it just shouldn't be difficult at all to buy and sell one used. Heck, you might even wind up pocketing a tiny profit by accident, and could use that to dine out at Mickey-D's in celebration of finishing the project (gotta love those trans-fat drenched, heart-clogging, apple pies!).

Btw, with Sony and Canon coming out with new cams real soon (and the pre-order prices dropping already on the NX5U), I bet used HMC150s will be selling for a few hundred bucks less, on average, in a few weeks.

I have done that about 4 times so far, as there is no local rental house and the rental fee is just a little too high to make it worth it.

You can buy one and expect to resell it nearly new for a $500USB loss fairly easily. A $600 or $700 discount makes it go a lot quicker. You also need several batteries (and maybe even several cameras).

FYI there is a rental place in North VA that has several.

ATS Rentals, the online rental company I own, carries the Panasonic HMC150 rental for $385 for a week, $223 for a day or weekend, plus $19 shipping.

Looks like this camera is still a little hard to find in the rental world, hope this helps. We love that this camcorder uses SD cards. No tapes, no expensive proprietary memory cards.

Mark, excellent website. I wasn't aware of your company and will definitely look your way when I next need rentals.

Yeah, thanks Mark for posting. I wish I had known about you for my last shoot. Would loved to have test run this camera.

Mark, a year ago I said I would give you a try if I needed extra cams. Times here and I just ordered two from Krista. She was very helpful.

I am in the San Francisco bay area and own an HMC-150. I am willing to rent it, but I am also looking for someone else local who would be willing to rent one to me when I need one. That ATS website always seems to be out of stock when I try it. Anyway, let me know if you are in the bay area and would be willing to rent me one, or have need of one. (more specifically, I am in San Jose).

Hello - I'm in NYC and am looking to rent the HMC150 this week. How best to connect with you?
