Did you submit to TIFF ? If you get in, I'll be there to support ya !
Good Luck, mate
Hi Ryan.
Still looking forward to this... keep us updated.
I don't spend a lot of time on DVXuser now, but keep dropping back now and again & always check up on Hillsgreen's progress![]()
I noticed in a couple of outdoors shots that you used a reflector for most of your lighting, did you ever setup any other lights? Or were most of the outdoors shots used with nature light + reflector? The reason I ask is because I think they look great.
looks awesome. confirms my theory: great picture making= the elusive "production value". good luck with it!
OK, I intentionally didn't review the thread, so as not to prejudice my judgment. Watching the trailer, I can't tell what genre this is - which is not a good sign in my humble opinion. It looks nice, I don't need more "reveals" or anything, just something to indicate what genre it is. Personally, I'm hoping there's a stabbing in there somewhere, but I like horror, so if it's a drama, I'm probably not the intended audience (tiny, no-budget dramas almost never seem to work for me, but that's just me).
I think a trailer should always indicate what genre it is, more than anything else, otherwise it doesn't reach the intended target. Just my 2 cents.
I watched it with the sound off. It looks clearly like a drama. I mean, if its a horror movie, yeah we got a problem!
@ryancglover I love the fact that is not a genre film (horror/vampire/zombie/etc.) and I think that you did a great job of choosing material that fit the production style and budget. Your choices in those areas (and so many others) are part of the reason why I really hope I get to see this film soon.
I would love to interview you both for my new blog, once it is up and running, about working on the film.
Looks good, well done! Reminds me of a Canadian Garden state.
I love this thread, I think it's a fantastic lesson- I think more of us broke-arse producers should be making straight dramas, all you need is some actors and places for them to talk and argue and fight, etc. I wish I wasn't bit by the horror movie bug so I could stop researching how to do monster makeup...sigh. one day Ill wise up and do a creepy exploitation drama like baby jane or something and I can stop stocking up on liquid latex.
