So with all the tweaks and hacks into scenefiles, has anyone been able to crank fasther than 60fps? Anyone know of a non-film camera that can do this?

Thanks

Dave

actually Yea... anyone know of anyhtign? im looking for 120P without having to get a bolex.

The Sony HC-3 claimes to do a 3 sec burst at 120fps. (actually 240 fields/sec, it's still interlaced) Which is handy if you have a one off event that you *really* have to slow down a lot. Like a balloon bursting or a snowball hitting a wall. - Of course it's HDV, and you only get 3 secconds of record time (so 12sec of playback at 30fps). But it does trump the HVX for speed.

shoot....... thats almost worth it.... And its HDV.... so you can get some kinda cheap HD.... at least for like birthday parties.

Bolexes won't go anywhere near 120fps, IIRC. I think they usually max out at about 64fps.

There was a high-speed version of the Filmo 70 that could go to 128fps...

Photosonics makes high-speed cameras; in video cameras it's uncommon to find any faster than 60fps. RED promises high speeds in windowed mode, but that's still about six months away. There used to be a JVC DV consumer model that would do that; it shot something like 60p or 120p at 1/4 resolution a couple of years ago.

Barry whats your opinion on thoes frame duplicator softwares?

You know the ones that use that "Mpeglike" algorithm to generate extra frames.

I am using it for Video Art purposes. i really need the ability to generate the slowest motion possible for a reasonable amount of money. ( hence why i dont want to go with film)

I have asked this before but with no answer: Is there any software that can double your clip frames? So shooting with the HVX at 60fps it could make it 120fps by doubling the frames. Or would the result be 'to' jumpy?
All of this has to be done 1 to 1.
Cheers

gahh theres an option new to after effects 7 that i was just working with last night... It works like this:

you have frame A, B, C (when i refer to this i mean B as the current frame you are watching) and when you slow it down theres a wierd option to take frames A/C and the program actully mixes them and matches pixels to create a NEW completly unique frame. I dont know the science of it, but it works pretty good. If you interested ill look it up again when i get home from work.

Yeah sounds good mate. Its funny how all programs offer speed adjustments in Percent and have frame blending, but is the any that offer 1 to 1 frame doubling?

Hey 4mat, wow nice work you have really inspired me! Just wondering what sort of steadicam was used on this clip? How good is this Program for converting NTSC 24p to PAL 25p? Also what do you use it through? After Effects?
Cheers mate

Damn Matt.. that clip looks better every time I see it! That bullet time look-alike in the tunnel looks sooo good.
