Hi,

sometimes i use a high shutterspeed. I think i loose the smooth Look.

Is there a possibility to archieve the smooth look using a plugin or a parameter in sony vegas or AE on rendering?

Thank you.

What frame rate are you shooting at? If it's 24p then you will have a difficult time having a smooth look when there is movement in the frame with a high shutter speed, which in a general sense is the reason to raise the shutter speed in the first place.

Do you really mean high framerate? Or perhaps slow shutter speed.

I think he is trying to say that his footage looks like it is staggering when he has high shutter speeds because there is no motion blur. Sometimes my method works in fixing this problem, but sometimes it just creates more problems. I use a little plug-in in After Effects CS4 called "RE: Real Smooth Motion Blur" or "RSMB". The plug-in basically analyzes one image with another and creates blur accordingly depending on the settings you have. It's not perfect sometimes, but it does help in footage where you originally had tracking points and you had to use high shutter speeds to keep the information for good tracking. Hope this helps.

If you are trying to control exposure with your shutterspeed (outdoors, etc) you may want to get a variable ND filter. That will allow you to use manual mode, select an ISO, aperture, and shutterspeed, and then dial in the exposure with the ND filter.

Here's an example I shot using this technique for shallow DOF outdoors:

hi everybody, thank you all.

I used shutterspeed because it was to bright and some parts was a football game. I had no Filter and i didn't want to losse DOF.

I used 50fps and a very high shutterspeed. I don't remember but it was very high.

I just would like to know if there is a solution to render smoother. I will try this plugin in AE

In future i will use a ND Filter and the 180 degree rule for the shutter speed.

Wich Filter would you suggest? I have a 7D and a Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS

Just buy a several ND filters (3,6, and 9 are a good set) or a Fader ND. Controlling exposure with Shutter speed is a bad idea. You cannot get smooth looking footage when shooting with high shutter speeds. If you want it to purposely look stuttery, then use a high shutter.

Ok i want to do that, but there are 1000 models. Which brand and model would you suggest? I think that it's a big responsability to put something in front of the lens.

I don't want to loose sharpness and quality :)

And if outside is to bright how much stop will i need?

Please help me to choose.

i just got one of those fader ND filters from LCW, great cause you can dial in how much darker you want.
