High Definition Footage to DVD

Hey everyone! I have a short film that I exported at 720p (it's about 17 minutes long) and I'm wanting to burn it to a DVD.

I have used DVD Studio Pro before and understand that you can choose to make your DVD high definition, but I'm confused as to what kind of DVD you have to buy to do this.

I know that there are HD DVD's... but can they be played on normal DVD players and computers?

Thanks.

DVDSP can only author standard-def DVDs or HD-DVD. Authoring an HD-DVD requires an HD_DVD-compatible burner. However, HD-DVD is obsolete now as it lost the format war to Blu-Ray. Further, HD-DVDs can be played only on HD-DVD players, which you aren't likely to find. You have two options:

1) Author to Blu-Ray (this requires a Blu-Ray burner) straight from FCP (depend on which version of FCP you have).

2) Use Compressor to convert the files for plain-ol' standard-def DVD and then use DVDSP to author a regular DVD. This is probably your best option.

Thanks for responding!

One question... when you say "...standard-def DVD and then use DVDSP to author a regular DVD," what are you referring to as a regular DVD? Are the two different?

Thanks.

I mean convert your 720p footage to DVD-ready files (which will result in standard-def video) using one of Compressor's presets (DVD best quality XX minutes). Then use DVDSP to author the DVD and burn to a DVD-R.

I see what you're saying. Alright, I will do that. I also think I'll look into blu-ray because I will have to burn video for other purposes.

Thanks for your help.
