HG21 Editing Software

I have a Canon HG21 Camcorder. Using the provided Pixela Software from Canon for the HG21, I have downloaded all of my Home Video's through my pc using XP to a 1.5 Tb Seagate External Hard Drive. After only 14 months of use the Seagate has died with hundreds of hours of Home Video's on it. I have found a data recovery place in Southern California to take it to in order to recover this data, hopefully, for around $800. Ouch! I will never buy another Seagate Product ever after this experience.

Now the tricky question is: I am now using 2 different external hard drives by Hitachi, both 2 Tb, to store all of my Home Video's that were still on my HG21. While files are still in their original state on the HG21 I can cut a 10Gb file, or any size original file for that matter, into smaller file sizes on my HG21, BEFORE I download them to my Toshiba 2 Tb External HDD. Unfortunately I cannot cut the file size AFTER I have downloaded the original 10 Gb file to the Hitachi, deleted said original file from my HG21, and then uploaded the same file back onto the HG21 from my Hitachi 2 Tb External HDD.

My question is "does anybody know what program would allow me to cut the size of a single 10 Gb HiDef file into 5 smaller 2 Gb files without losing quality, info, etc. without costing an arm and a leg?"

I'm going crazy trying to find an answer. Thanks anybody and everybody for any help.

Many thanks, Dino LADINOBOY@hotmail.com
