Help with Wide Angle Decision?

Okay, I've read through every thread I can find on this forum and others and I've yet to find a comprehensive answer to the question: Which of the following in your experienced opinion is better?

1. The Canon WD-H72 (.75X) (I've read about and seen all the vids and pics so I know it's well liked.)

2. The Century Optics Wide Angle Auxillary lens (.6X - http://www.adorama.com/CY0HD06WAXLH.html)

3. The Red Eye Wide Angle Adapter (.5X).

I'm not looking for complete zoom through... just want to widen up those shots were the environment is too confining and/or add some visual affecting.
Does anyone of have any screens or vids of any of these bad boys for comparison? That would be so ideal... and so cool!

Right now I'm leaning towards the Century Optics Wide Angle adapter because it is definitely lighter than the Canon and is slightly wider. It also allows for filters.
Has anyone tried this puppy? Does it "see" (vignette) with the XHA1 lens hood when the lens is fully zoomed out? Is it worth the money? (It's about the same price as the WD-H72). Care to try and talk me out of it (or in to it!)
And what about it's having a bayonet-mount... will that actually work on my threaded XHA1 out of the box or do I need an adapter to use the adapter?

I have considered the Red Eye, but some have stated that it's not made of glass and may easily scratch... plus it's priced slightly higher than the other two options.

I'm getting close to a very big production and will need a good wide angle solution for some selected scenes... and I'm going crazy trying to find out as much as I can without spending (and/or wasting) a ton of money.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I can't compare the three because I have only tried the WD-H72, but I can say I am quite happy with this adapter. It does add a bit of weight but not enough to bother me, still works as hand-held without much trouble. The lens comes with a custom hood which stays out of the way.

Here are a few screen's of the same subject at different depths with the WD-H72

Thanks for the ((huge!!)) pics, PD. :-Laugh(DBG)-1 What a good looking dog... and the green rural setting you live in makes me jealous!

Anyone have a few stills from an XH A1 with the Century adapter? :dankk2:

I used the Canon wide for two weeks in Africa and it worked well. Weight is an issue. Handheld with a vidled and shotgun mic and the Canon wide makes a very heavy camera for long periods of run and gun. Price is good, hood shade is great, not as wide sometimes as you would like (if you are going to put a wide adapter on - let's get as wide as possible without distortion), price is good.

Hopefully, someone will chime in on the century.

The century does look pretty nice. Let's hope someone on here has tried one out. As for the ability to use filters though... does anyone actually make a 102mm threaded filter?

Don't know how much help this is but I've got a century .6 on the hvx and love it - no vignetting, no problems at all. the 102mm thread though isnt standard pitch at all. I think its only for some proprietary century thing - might want to look into that if you plan on putting a filter on the front. If they even make 102 mm filters - havent looked for one.

I'm chiming in here because this thread seems to have died a premature death. I'd love to hear others' thoughts from several months on. Any word on the Century? What about the 16x9? What did the OP end up with?
