Help with P2 transfer to HDD

Ok... I need some help please -

I followed the manual directions and formatted my HD in order to transfer from the P2 card. After I transfered I tired to import into final cut when I noticed that there was no longer any space left on my 500 gig HD. The amount of space moved from the P2 amounted to about 7 gigs yet it insisted the drive was nearly full. To be precise - it said there was only 107 mb left. I then deleted everything that I had transfered from the p2 to see what would happen. After I did that it still said there was only 107mb available.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The school I go to just recently got these HD cameras and it has been thrusted upon me to figure out how everything works. I hope I haven't somehow messed up the HD.

Right. That's the way it works. There's 492 gigs of unallocated space on your drive, and 8 gigs allocated (of which 7+ were full), so there's only 107mb available in that partition. Next time you go to offload a card the camera will allocate another 8gb partition out of that available 492GB pool.
