Help with HV20 purchase

Hi, a friend of mine wanted an easy homecamcorder.

The thing is that he plans to shoot some clubsized consert footage with it.

So my question is.


How good do you think it hold up to that type of footage?
 
hi Estebeverde, thanks for posting the fantastic footage. i had no idea this level of quality was available from the HV20 in this kind of lowlight siutation. looks like you found the magic settings for the environment :)

soo... edited in FCP6 eh.. any filters, anything at all done in FCP to make the image look as beautiful as it does?

if the kind of low light quality results that you have shown here are possible on a fairly regular basis.. then that is awesome.

i wonder if the low light results would have looked as good if there was a 35mm adapter on the camera, eg a redrockM2 or a Brevis system..

cheers for the links.. the dude in hawaii's footage is very encouraging.

also, some great content by you, well done. :)

the workarounds seem pretty helpful (a good excuse to get a nice new phone with a big bright screen, heh), and the most important thing, the quality of footage, looks to be rather lush and execellent. very tempted to get me one of these amazing HV20's.
 
I used the HV20, an XH A1, and a HVX200 for a 3 cam wedding shoot for a friend - the HV20 looks better than the XH A1 in 90% of the footage, it is noticeably sharper on wide shots, and outperformed both the XH A1 and the HVX200 in low light situations.

I'd definitely recommend it !!
 
hi Eric, thanks for the info.. i would be very interested to know if you do the workaround to lock the shutter and prevent auto gain, or is it more a situation of click record and get good footage?
