Help!!! which 50mm to use?

So I have a choice between using a canon 50mm 1.2L for a night scene in a music video OR a Zeiss 50mm 1.4 ZE. Ive never used either lens (Only have used a canon 50mm 1.4 and 1.8 as far as 50's go). I have heard the zeiss lenses are far better then the L lenses but since I dont have too much knowledge on them I dont know if thats true. Anybody out there try em both out and could give me your 2 cents on which I should use?

Just in case you need to know - camera bodies ill be using are t2i/mkii

those are two very, very, very nice lenses, you can't go wrong with either one

but anyway...

if you can't test them yourself beforehand, you can play with this to compare sharpness:
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/...meraComp=453&SampleComp=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=0
(the canon seems sharper at fast apertures, the zeiss does better at f/4 or narrower)

and you can check the bokeh tests here (I think I like the canon better for this too):

http://www.photozone.de/canon_eos_ff/537-zeiss50f14eosff?start=1

but I'm afraid at this level of awesomeness there are lots of things to care about besides sharpness and bokeh...

thank you very much! that digital picture site is wayy cool being able to compare the two lenses like that. Your definitely right on not being able to go wrong, they both look absolutely amazing.. I feel like im leaning towards the 1.2L. Whichever I choose though, Ill be sure to post the results!

I prefer the way the Zeiss 50mm renders scenes compared to most other 50s I've used. It's something that can't really be measured, I just really love the way it looks. There's also the direct manual focus coupling which makes a big difference in terms of practical use of the lens, and the Zeiss is quite a bit smaller than the Canon 50L.

I ended up not having a choice on which to use. (The Zeiss ended up not being available). So I used the Canon 50mm 1.2L. I was really pleased with it. Although after talking to a few friends I am now really curious about the zeiss lenses... I would like to get ahold of one soon to see for myself the image they produce.
