Help...What should I purchase first??

If you've already got a good tripod then definitely go with lights, they're more important than many people new to the DVX realize. A dolly is not necessarily needed for every project and one can be improvised easily if need be, and as far as the 35mm goes, you won't get much of a result without good lighting.

Mikko I am assuming that you mean get the lights!!
I am looking at the arri softbank 1 kit? Does that sound good? and you mentioned a good tripod do you have a recommendation for one? Thank you so much for your input.

The arri kit is only good if you know how to use it correctly. If you dont know how to light, then you will be just as good with some $10 Home Depot shop lights. If you have money to spend, I would take some classes and go to some seminars to learn how to light and edit correctly, and I promise that you will see a huge leap in production value if you can do those correctly.

I have been using FCP for about 3 years now and I am a pretty decent editor, But last sumer I decided to take a FCP color correction course at stanford, and let me tell you, it was worth every penny, Using COLOR with my projects now make them just amazing. I will post my next short once I get my Sgpro. I think it will turn out to be quite amazing!
