GH2 Help! Videomic Pro doesn't work with my GH2

Hi,

I've bought a Rode Videomic Pro for my GH2, to film an interview at the weekend.
But the camera doesn't recognise it at all.

Normally, I would think it would be my 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor, but I use that with my Audio Technica lavalier and it works just fine.

This is the adaptor, I would have got a HOSA one but they don't sell them here in the UK:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/2-5mm-Angle...2BTK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328210125&sr=8-1

Has anyone got any ideas what I can do to get these working?

(In a bit of a panic obviously!)

Yes, brand new battery. Got the green light on the VMP.

When I plug in the lav, I get a message saying to turn on the external mic.
I don't get this with the VMP.

I expect it is the 2.5-3.5mm adaptor which is at fault, but why would it work with the lav and not the VMP?

So, the green power light is on on the VMP, the adapter works with a different mic, you don't have the db set to -10 on the VMP. I can't think of anything else but a faulty mic.

Try a different adapter with the Rode VMP. If it still doesn't work, I agree that it's probably a faulty mic. My VMP works perfectly with my GH2 and a HOSA adapter.

G'day Fresno, Rode support are following your thread here. If you're still having trouble and you bought your VMPro new, asap contact the Rode dealer where you bought your mic.

Hopefully there's still time so you can drop by their shop or take it to the nearest pro audio dealer before your gig. Good luck.

Cheers.

Fingers crossed I'm going to have a chance to test it out on a H4n - but that's late tonight, and the shoot is 8am next day.
Cutting it a bit close :(

I tried all different settings but the camera just doesn't pick it up

I have the very same adaptor, works fine with a Rode NTG2 and Sennheiser G2 radio mic.
The message that comes up is normal, (well at least on my GH2), it disapears after a few seconds and the external mic icon appears on the LCD.
What level do you have your audio set to ?
BTW, I did have to trim off some of the plastic surrounding the 2.5 plug to get the adaptor to push home fully.

Ok, tried the VMP direct into an H4n this morning and it worked just fine.

So it seems that particular adaptor doesn't work with the VMP.
