Help! Sand in my 14-140

I foolishly took my GH2 to the beach the other day to shoot some pictures of a frisbee tournament. I was very careful to keep the camera out of the sand but it was a windy day and I guess some of the very fine sand got into the lens anyway. Is there a way I can get my lens disassembled and cleaned? I tried using compressed air but I can't get the grit out of the focus ring or the zoom. If I took it to a camera repair shop would they be able to clean it?

I would take it to a lens repair shop immediately. I know my local shop would be able to provide service for the Panny 14-140 lens, you may want to call yours and verify by phone. Either way, I would not go about doing it on your own without the right specialized equipment and training. That's a nice lens and it would be a shame to inadvertently damage it while trying to clean it.

If you don't have a local place that can service it, you can always use one of the reputable online companies who offer repairs. Check out KEH and Camerarepair.com for a start. There's lots of others to be found with a quick google search for lens repair.
