Help required on a Canon FD 24mm L. Thanks

I bought a 24mm Canon FD L, its cosmetically in excellent condition, and without a fleck of dust inside the elements, but it seems to have what looks like some kind of fogging coming from 3 uniformly spaced areas on one of the internal elements. What is this? I've attached some images and drawn a diagram. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jon

might be fungus

That's what I thought at first. The only odd thing is the symmetry. If it is fungus and it's on the surface and hasn't etched the glass, have it cleaned. It may have taken some coating.

If it's between elements, then the issue is more serious.

Or it could be oil leaking from the focus ring.

Hopefully it's something that can be easily cleaned. Either way have a tech look at it.

I've an option to send it back, as it was marked as Mint on ebay. (UK to USA though!) It's really quite soft wide open at f1.4, even softer than my f2 24mm wide open, do you reckon this is down to this misty stuff?

I've been really after a fast 24mm for a while though. Do you reckon I just get a refund?

Regards
Jon
