HELP! Odyssey - FS 700 problem!

Hi there,

I’m having issues with my FS700/Odyssey 7Q Combo:

After quickly adjusting the the rig an attaching the Odyssey 7Q again via SDI, I get no more video signal (though, audio signal) only colored bars! Sometimes the screen is just black.

What I checked:
- I tried 3 different SDI cables
- FS Settings accord with Odyssey 7Q settings
- I switched from 4k RAW —> 4K Prores to DNG and back
- Restarted several times and took off battery, for both camera and Odyssey 7Q
- Took off the Speedbooster

Anybody having a clue? Is this an Odyssey 7Q problem or is this a FS700 problem?

I’ve had the O7Q for three years with my FS700 and haven’t had a single problem yet. Today we worked with somebody elses FS 700…

Thanks for the help.

Cheers

I'm not sure I completely understood the chain of events here...but if you tried your O7Q with someone else's FS700 and it didn't work that might be an issue with the camera. I believe that some older versions of the camera firmware were not automatically enabled to output 4K RAW from the FS700.

Is this because someone bumped the button that switches it to photo mode? I have done that a few times and been very confused!

Was just about to suggest the same. You will see it in the FS700 screen if it is in photo mode or not. But turning FS700 on/off should default it to video mode, so propably not that...

I had similar problem - what I notice is that the O7Q has heat problem. the problems seems to be later in the show
sometimes I tape a show for 3-4 hours. So try to shutdown and change SSD card. would you believe changing
SSD card bring down the heat really fast.

Not to hi jack the thread...but also noticing a couple issues w/ my 7q...wondered if anyone else is (or has) experienced this. I'm running the latest update, can't remember what it is. Anyway, two different issues. One is a single frame corruption to random clips...it's only the first frame, not a huge issue but does make it annoying when trying to scan clips in a library using proxies.

The other is a bit more significant as the 7q seems to have "baked" the corruption into the clip. It's almost as if the image was mixed with both snow and false color. When I'm running and gunning I don't typically use the 7q to monitor the image as I can't easily see it the way I'm rigged. Anyway, luckily I took a break, put the rig on the sticks, glanced at the monitor and went what the hell?

There was nothing activated on the monitor save for a LUT. I couldn't get rid of the grain/snow/false color look I was seeing so I powered cycled the unit and it came back fine. I didn't think much of it until I got home that evening and off loaded the media and I noticed that I had six clips corrupted in that look. The clips play, audio is fine...but the clips are f'd. And of course, murphy's law says of those six clips...I really really need three of them this is a doc and there is no "do over" . I put the drive back in the unit, rebuilt the file system but got the same result...clips are still corrupted.

I've spoken with support and I'm in the process of getting them one of the clips but thought I'd throw this out to the masses to see if anyone else has encountered these issues.Single frame corrpution.jpg

something similar happens to me - usually filming in 4K for couple hours - then last hour the 7Q snowed display and corrupt the segment

so either the O7Q is getting too hot, or the SDI cable. I think the 7Q is getting too hot
