Hi

we are at stage of the lay-back. the project was shoot and edited at 720 60fps(59.97) on FCP 6.01. The sound was recorded and edited at 29.97 non-drop frames.

as broadcast requirements the project must be delivered at NTSC drop frames on digibeta. for sake of synch between pic and sound what is the best way to convert this project to drop frame?

when the editor changed the timeline to drop-frame the project was 3:04 longer (3:18 for every hour)

best

Drop and non-drop frame video of the same standard (like 29.97) are actually identical in clock-time length. Only the frame numbering scheme changes so drop-frame numbers match clock time (which non-drop numbers don't). When your editor changed the frame rate, it almost certainly only changed the *displayed* length, not the *actual* length of the film in clock-time.

Also, remember that audio isn't frame based. It's sample rate based. So irrespective of what frame rate is displayed, audio will run at its given clock rate, typically 48 or 96KHz for video. You may be able to simply sync the audio to a start mark (like a slate clap), or even eyeball it, and leave it at that.

And it's 59.94, not 59.97. It's an exact double of 29.97.
