After only 27 hours of use my AC90 is jacked up!!! I didnt use it for like maybe 3 weeks when I decided to mess around with it I encountered some strange behavior. I recorded a clip and all was well until I played it back then the camera just locked up and would not respond. I waited till the red memory card access light turned off but it never did. I decided to turn it off and even that was not working the camera stayed on!!!! :( I took the battery off and popped it back on, reformated the mem card in camera, started recording and it locked up again. The record icon is on but the timecode is not moving. When I try to stop recording the camera it wont stop, I have to remove the battery. When I turn it on a recovery file function runs and I record again and the same thing happens again. :Drogar-BlackEye(DBG I tried Sandisk, PNY, and Sony memory cards and the results are the same!!!! Anyone else heard or experienced this problem??!!??!! How do I preform a Factory Reset??? I looked in the manual but didnt find how. Thanks in advance.

it wont record to the card, the record light is on but the timecode is not moving. Have to remove the battery to shut it off. I called Panasonic and they said to send it in. Ill update this post when I get my camera fixed. Anyone have a similar problem with a memory card based camcorder???

At my prior job we had 5 HMC150's used heavily and only ever had 2 sd card issues for which I'm convinced the employee was handling the cards wrong and touching the contacts (he would put the sd cards in wrong into the case so would pull up on the contact side in pulling them out). Never a lock up or funky behaviour other than these two issues where the card corrupted/trashed due to user error.

Camera is off to Panasonic for service. Now im going to be paranoid when I use it at events. Ill update once I get it back.

Ok finally I have my camera back from Panasonic Service. They could not give me an explanation on what went wrong with my camera. They ended sending me a new camera because the main board is what failed and it was cheaper to just send me a new unit.

Cheaper for them but if you were not in warranty you might have had to pay up to 95% of the cost of the camera to replace the main board. Let's hope this was a once-off problem.

If anyone else has had issues with the AC90 please report them.

I find it scary when a problem like this happens and it is not possible to get a proper explanation.

I probably average about 12 hours a week with my AC90, have had it over a year. I did have a couple of the handle controls fail after a couple months. Zoom out & record just stopped working. I need the camera so haven't sent it back yet for repair.

Makes me wonder now if my camera (HMC80) has the same problem. My camera operator said the zoom demand doesn't work. The time I tested it, it worked fine. makes me wonder if it is flaking out.
