Help/Missing Codec

i try to open a FCP 720p60p timeline, i have 5.0.4,
its says codec not found. you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.
is this a fcp problem or a quicktime problem?

This is an FCP problem. You need to upgrade to get the DVCPROHD codec.

5.0.4 should already have the codec, it's included with all versions of FCP since 4.5.

5.0.4 did not support any pN modes I believe in 24 or 30:

That white paper mentions support for "ingest" (aka "log & transfer" or "file->import panasonic p2") for the pN modes. 5.0.4 supported pN from the beginning.

It indicates in 5.0.4 "not supported at this time."

Specifically:

720pn 24/30 Yes Ingests at 24 or 30 fps No Not supported at this time


Am I missing something?

Yes, you're missing the column header which talks about capture. For "ingest", it's supported "yes". For "capture", it's not supported. Which makes obvious sense, since "capture" means 1394 capture, and the pN modes don't transfer over the firewire.
