Help me with a Powerbook purchase

Hey guys
My wife wants a laptop and I want to save money. She wants a mac, so I am looking at getting a Powerbook so that I have the p2 offload issue resolved too. Anyway, just wondering if there is anything in particular I need to look for in the purchase. Do all powerbooks have the P2 slot? Does it need to be running Leopard? Can a powerbook do everything that a macbook can besides run windows- I realize it might be slower, but is it still capable of running the full final cut studio suite?

I have a 17" Powerbook and it should be alright for editing DVC PRO HD on. It will obviously not be as fast for encoding but it isn't too bad. As for the Final Cut Studio. I am running Leopard and the FCS2 fine with the exception that it won't run Color.
