Hay everyone

I want to invest on a HV30 but from googling HV20, I got this setup:

I really like this setup but before I dream of this, help me decide if I should get a HV30. My budget is £700-£800 ($1400-$1600).

Main purpose is to experiment with lighting scenes so a lot of night shooting and dark scenes with lights

HV20/30's are nice, but if you are thinking about a set up like the one pictured, you should invest in a professional camera instead. I'd recommend saving up some more money.

If you are dead set on an HV20 or 30...the main difference is that the HV30 shoots 30P. If that is something you want, go with the HV30. Also, it's hard to find new HV20's for a decent price (you can find plenty of deals on used ones). So if you want to buy new, then the HV30 would probably be the best route to go.

I'd love to get a professional camera but my budget is really tight. I was going to take a finance for it though. I am a big fan of DOF/Macro Photography, are there a lenses I could get that'll give me that option?

If not, I have to save up for a professional camera :(

you might as well save up a bit more, and just get that canon 5d that shoots video... it'll have better low-light performance than any cheap camcorder... you'll have to shoot film-style of course.

That's interesting. Get SLR to shoot films
