Couldn't get picture on .mov files so someone suggested I go to apple site and down load quicktime. I did. Before I could get sound and no picture. Now I get picture and terrible sound. Any ideas?

Thanks,:dankk2:

Hey Bird,
First thing I would try is uninstall and re-install Quicktime. Also, have you tried to view multiple clips or just one clip that has the bad audio?
Jim

Well, I tried uninstall and re-install. No luck. Sound is very broken and clippy. (Hard to describe really.) Not pleasant at all. One of the files that would play before now also has the broken up sound. Anyone?

Thanks,
Bird

In QuickTime Player, open the QuickTime Preferences and double-check the audio settings -- make sure it is using the right deviceand audio format / speaker setup.

I can't recall is there a version of Quicktime for Mac and another version for Windows? If so, that could be the issue. Just a thought.
Jim

I think I have the right version, uninstalled and reinstalled, and it is talking to the right sound card, but still garbled. I could get good sound before the upgrade but no picture. Now I get picture, but garbled sound. Mystery!

Well, did a complete uninstall and new download and reinstall. Same problem. All my windows stuff works great, just doesn't want to work with the Mac stuff. Oh well, we tried.

Thanks,

Bird

This is really weird! It's a bit of a mystery! Just out of curiosity what's your computer set up? I hate to see a fellow Georgian left out of the world of Quicktime.

Here's an idea that worked for me (but I had no sound, so it might not be your case).

Open the Quicktime preferences and click on the 'Audio' tab. Then click on the 'Safe Mode' checkbox and see if it works...

Hi Jim,
Just got back in town to my computer. I was using a Sony GRV680 laptop, but last week it finally bit the dust. That might have been the problem. Had problems with it booting consistantly. Would boot some time, but after many tries. Just bought a Gateway desk top and am starting to set it up now. I'll try quicktime again after set up and see if it works on the Gateway.

Thanks,
Bird

Hi, i have exactly the same problem with the new digirack 002r by digidesign. I have many years experience in IT but i couldn't solve this problem. Paying a lot of many for digirack and it can not play a single mov file.

I had a similar issue while running Quicktime Alternative on my AMD x2 64 machine I built. The way that I fixed the issue was downclock my PC and un-plug all USB devices. For a while I had a wireless USB adaptor that messed with my system and caused all kinds of headaches, while I was overclocked.

If that doesn't help, uninstall quicktime and install quicktime alternative, You'll love me for it.

(p.s. quicktime player isn't in it, but it allows you to play quicktime files in any other media player)
