When I press play. All I get is a blue screen. The timecode doesn't move but the time left on the tape still decreases as it plays. What can I do? Also when i put it into record mode it says, dirty heads. I used a head cleaner but still no luck.
More info needed.
Assume the blue screen is the A1 LCD? Is the A1 new, rented or bought used?
Is the DV recording tape new because old tapes can cause real trouble like that? And is the cleaner tape the same as your DV tape brand?
The camera is about 3 years old. Yes the blue screen is on the LCD. I've tried playing both new and old dv tapes and both hdv and dv tapes. The cleaner tape is radio shack brand
But did you buy the A1 used? What brand DV recording tape are you using?
If it's Radio Shack brand stop using any of it and buy Panasonic or Sony from a local shop, not on line from the East.
You're not recording at LP speed are you? If so you should clean the heads at SP speed with a cleaner tape that's the same brand as your recording tape. Tapes recorded with dirty heads may not be played correctly even when you clean the heads. p144.
Last resort, eject the tape and press the reset button p11.
Do you mean that you can't playback any tape at all, or that you can't playback a specific tape?
If it is a specific tape that won't play back, is this a tape that you recorded on the very same camera that you are using now to playback the tape, or did the tape come from somebody else, or was it recorded on a different camera?
I bought the camera new three years ago. I was able to playback this tape that I can't play now. I've tried playing back several tapes that I've recorded over he years and none of them play. I will try buying a new head cleaner.
