HELP! HVX, FS-100, and Final Cut Pro Interlace Problems

Hi, all. I recently recorded footage with my HVX on a FS-100 and I'm having interlace problems with Final Cut Pro. Here's my settings:

I recorded in 1080i at 24pA on the HVX and used DVCPRO HD mode in the Quicktime PN format on the FS-100.

Then on Easy Setup in Final Cut Pro, I set my settings to DVCPRO HD 24pA at 23.98 fps.

Now, I can import the clips fine, but once I drag them into my timeline, a message comes up that says "This clip does not match this sequence's settings or any of your sequence presets. Change sequence settings to match the clip's settings?" I chose "Yes" for this. I think that's what I should have picked, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I'm getting 3 progressive frames followed by an interlaced frame. Does this mean I have to do some kind of Pulldown? If so, do I use Cinema Tools or Final Cut? It's weird, because I'm definitely getting 24 fps on the timeline (I counted). What's the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you recorded in Quicktime PN on the FS-100 and just transferred the files, check the properties of those files. If it shows 23.98, then your sequence settings are incorrect.

Which version of FCP? Can't see your system from here.

Thanks for responding. When I check the item properties in Final Cut, it says 23.98 fps. The version is Final Cut 6.1. What sequence settings should I change?

That's good. I just tested and had no problems at all. Use Sequence Preset DVCPRO HD 1080p24.

I shot in the HVX at 1080 24pA and recorded to Quicktime PN on the FS-100. The clip came in at 23.98 and I just dropped into sequence with no error messges or any other issues.

You have FCP 6.0.1. Do you have the version 4.0 update for your FS-100. That fixed several problems with QT PN transfer.

I actually got 4.0 today. However, I shot the footage with 3.0. So the interlacing issue is only in playback? If I make a 24p DVD, interlacing shouldn't be a problem, right?

I did not see any interlacing problem at all. I did not get any error message when dropping into timeline. So, I really do not know what to say. Just to double-check, your sequence pre-set is DVCPRO HD 1080p24, corret?

How are you monitoring? I monitor either out DVI via Matrox MXO or SDI via a Kona 2. I only monitored through the MXO and when I saw no problem both on the monitor as well as on the computer display I figured I had no interlacing problem.

Yes, my sequence is set to that. I actually have only been viewing it on my computer screen. Maybe I'll connect it to something else. I'm assuming it's a bug in FS-100 3.0 firmware. Thanks for your help.
