Hey,
So sorry this is literally a camera/editing for dummies question, but I'm totally baffled and need some step by step guidance or a link to a really useful, simple site...

I have recently bought an HMC40. I have FCP 6 on a macbook pro (fairly old one).
I want to capture the footage but I am confused by the entire process and cannot find a simple guide.

What I have done is literally copy and paste the Folder PRIVATE into a folder on my computer (well an external hardrive) but how do I now open that in FCP and work with it?

I appreciate any guidance and wlll respond quickly with info you need! (And apologies if you see this twice, I think I will also post in the FCP section..)

THANKS

You're going to have to "Log and Transfer" your footage instead of "Capture." You can do that straight from the card, or from a folder on your machine. Keep the file structure intact at all costs! Mac/FCP will not log/transfer if your file structure is messed with in any way. There are other applications that will allow you to get the footage onto your machine w/out using FCP's log/transfer process- You also need to have the intel chipset for working with AVCHD footage- I believe the other applications (not FCP) will allow you to get around that.

Make sure you've done all the updates to your version of Final Cut- I seem to remember there was a "6. something" that allowed log/transfer of AVCHD footage.

Hope that helps~

We would appreciate it if you would not double post.

You have identical post in the Final Cut Pro thread, and responses there.
