HELP: How should i import hvx footage into fcp 7 without a P2 reader?

I have a project shot on HVX from P2 cards. I have the mxf files. Ill be editing in FCP 7 but i dont have a P2 card reader to do an easy log and transfer of footage. How should i go about this project in terms of importing this footage the fastest way for smooth editing.

I heard a few different ways and im not sure which is best.

If the mxf files are still on the cards- use the camera as a reader and transfer the cards to an external hard drive. Then log and transfer into your FCP project. If the mxf files are already on a hard drive- just log and transfer.

thank you. yah the files are on a hard drive, i wasnt sure if i could still log and transfer without a camera or card reader.
