I see I can get the ha1 for three grand presently with rebate. I was going to get the 100b. I need help deciding between the two. do you like your ha1? Can you shoot SD and HD. Hows the 24p look? and last, the eye peice looks odd to me. does it tilt up? I'm look for feed back from owners that might help justify spending the extra 5-600 to go with it. Thanks.

I've shot with both but own a XHA1.

I LOVE the DVX for its weight, usability, and sharp picture.

I LOVE the XHA1 for its image quality, image tweaking, and controls.

Honestly, if you can, go with the A1. HD is beautiful :).

This is a pretty easy choice...

If you have the money then get the A1. (3k or so)

I think that the DVX will limit you in the future. It is a great camera and I think if you were going to get one, I would look for a great value on the used market. SD is nice now, but HD and SD from the Canon will give you greater value long term out of the camera vs the DVX.

One great thing about the DVX though is the Manual lens and excellent picture out of the box. I used to own the DVX and loved it, but I think that the XHA1 is a much better value for the 3k price tag than the DVXB. IF you can pick up one used and get one for 1/2 the price of the XHA1 then you may consider that. Also I think it depends on what you are planning to shoot with it.

Both are excellent bang for the buck type of cameras. You really cannot go wrong with either camera, but the key is the price range and if you want to shoot HD or SD. The smart money would be to get the XHA1 or wait for an upgrade from Canon, and then get the XHA1 when the price comes down a bit. I like to buy the best price point, unless the product is brand new and I really see the value in it.

Good Luck.
