Help!! Capturing footage from DVX100 with anamorphic adapter does not fill up 16x9 sc

I am editing footage shot with DVX100 and anamorphic adapter in FCP. I have tried several capture presets but cannot get the image to fill a 16x9 screen. I get black borders on top and bottom..as if the aspect ratio is a 2.35:1. I am trying to cut this with some other footage shot in 16x9 which fills screen properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think true 1080i/p footage from native 16:9 sensors is 1920X1080 but I thought artificial like adapters or squeeze mode was 1440X1080. I am assuming you have the timeline set to anamorphic 16:9. I don't actually have an anamorphic adapter so I'm not much help but I really don't know any other options.

well since its showing up as 2.35:1 footage, i think you may have accidentally shot the footage in squeeze mode + the adapter? When you use an anamorphic adapter you should always shoot in 4:3 mode in the camera.

You do realize that we are talking about a DVX here, right? The DVX shoots SD. 1080i and 1080p are HD.

The original DVX100 does not have Squeeze. Only normal and letterbox.

But yeah, you need to make sure that you're shooting normal 4:3 if you use an anamorphic adapter. Capture for anamorphic footage from the DVX (no matter if it's from the 100 with an adapter lens, or from the 100a or 100b in Squeeze), should be DV NTSC 48kHz Anamorphic.
