C300: Help! Buttons not responding

Hi
I have a crew shooting abroad just now and their C300 is misbehaving. All of the buttons have become unresponsive, so they can't access the menu, change settings or initialise their cards.
The record button is still working, as is ISO and aperture, so they can continue shooting until they run out of card space.
Can anyone advise on how to fix this issue please?
And is there a way to initialise cards without access to the menu? They have tried deleting clips from the cards via their laptop, but the camera asks for the card to be initialised before they can use it.
All help much appreciated! Thank you!
Lindsay

Check that the handgrip cable is FULLY inserted and making good contact(give it about a 1/4 twist once you think that its all the way in). If not, it can ruin your day. I've had it happen(fortunately I discovered the this little idiosyncrasy at home and not in the field), but I have seen it happen to other people. Had a friend almost get totally screwed on a shoot because of it(not so much that he didn't have the cable inserted fully, but his Zacuto relocator's cable was bad). You would think that it would just effect the grip, but it effects the camera body controls, as well.

A quick way to check if it's the cable/grip, just unplug the cable from the camera. If everything works normally again, that's the problem.
