T2i HELP! broken t2i?

I got a t2i in the mail today and it showed up in some pretty mangled packaging but I didn't really think anything of it because all of the bubble wrap was still intact and not popped. I used it for an hour or two and it was great. After that, once in a while, the lcd screen would just go black for a split second but then everything would be fine. Now when I turn the camera on, I look through the viewfinder, and I press the shutter halfway, it shows everything (light, shutter, aperature, etc.) in the viewfinder, but there is nothing visible on the lcd screen. If I have autofocus on and I press the shutter button halfway, it'll autofocus, as well as beep, signaling that it is ready. When I try to press the shutter fully down though, nothing will happen, won't make a shutter noise, and lcd remains black. I've tried pressing the display button multiple times (just to make sure that I'm not retarded and have the display off), as well as trying different batteries, with/without the grip, etc. but nothing works.

Is it possibly because of the weird heat/humidity here? (I was shooting outside in 75 degrees and decently humid and came inside where its like 60). Or did this happen because of shipping problems? Any insight would be great because I've gotta use this camera for KOTR and it would be wonderful if it would fix itself (not likely).

I would post pics of what the packaging was like but apparently my phone thought it would be cool if it just went ahead and deleted them. ****ing great.

Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated, I need to get this sorted out!

I don't know about the shutter not working. On my T2i, if i push down the shutter while in auto-focus mode it always takes a picture unless it cannot focus properly, then it will not take a picture. Does the camera's shutter work when the lens is set to manual focus? If so, the lens could be part of the problem.

When you put your eye on the viewfinder, the camera senses this and automatically turns off the LCD screen on back of the camera so that the light from the LCD isn't distracting. So you shouldn't expect for the LCD to be on if you are looking through the viewfinder.

I've never had any problems with my camera in 75 degree weather, it always works just fine. If you have installed the magic lantern hack (which i doubt you have at this point), it can make the camera crash sometimes.

Good Luck,

Josh

Yeah I have tried it in both auto and manual focus modes, as well as different lenses (kit 15-55, 28-90, and 18-270 if that matters) but to no avail. When the camera turns on, nothing is displayed on the lcd screen, even after I press live view, display, and pretty much every other button on the camera. There may be something blocking the lcd sensor which would make sense, but it does not explain the shutter not working (doesn;t even make a shutter sound). Could it possibly going from the very humid climate to indoors, air-conditioned, and dry? I put it in rice for the night and I guess I'll find out tomorrow, but if not, then I assume something got knocked loose from shipping.
