Help! About to Buy ... Stuff!

Yeah. Lighting is a HUGE part of the learning agenda. I would rather work with a DOP, but would like to learn as much as I can about lighting.

Are there any kits you (or anyone) suggest looking at? Back when we had the DVX, we were looking at the Lowel DV Creator series. Thanks.

i'm not trying to prevent you from buying it lol, i guess to me personally spending 11 or 12 grand on a toy to learn to use is a little to much. Think of what u told me, u bought all this audio gear worth 20,000 and it didnt work out for you. I just dont want you to make the same mistake 2wice , unless money is no issue, go crazy.

What will u edit on again? Pc or Mac? Pc is usless with the HVX and HD

Saturnin: I didn't say the audio gear didn't work out. I said the opposite: even though I didn't make money from it, I had years of creative fun and learning and I don't regret it at all. In fact, when I bought it, I didn't plan on making money from it. Just personal fun. I'd do it again! I love being creative, and whether it is a hobby or a way to make a living, I still have a drive to do it.

So, it wouldn't be the same mistake twice, just once. :)

We will be editing on my friend/partner's MacBook Pro and I'm going to trade in my iMac g5 for an intel mac.

We may buy a cheap Dell or Acer laptop just to capture from the P2 cards, but for now, we have the ability to offload and edit footage ... to Mac and FCP.

I agree with the first part of your last sentence: "Pc is useless ... " :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
