Hello Dolly

Lucky Duck
This is a rejected one minute sequence I submitted to a client looking for stock footage. It was rejected for a number of reasons.

1. The first shot (which I think is just magical) was shot through a car window and there were spots on the window that showed up in the shot -- crap

2. The horizon line is off on the second shot although it's a gorgeous scene -- crap

Anyway, these shots were taken out of a car window. Kinda pseudo dolly without the setup

I went into this thinking:

A car shot ? Has the Dmasta lost his mind ?

=

Wow ! Awesome shots; the first shot is Fargo. I totally saw Buschemi treading through the snow on that one !

Beautiful. Crap ? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttt

Thanks John. I meant "crap" as in "crap, I can't believe the shot suffered because of a detail I forgot"....that kind of crap :)

Dunno, that footage looks pretty clean to me. I did notice some very pronounced artifacting at the base of the split rail fence posts in the gazebo shot.

I should mention that the version that's posted is a low bitrate file so there is a lot of info breaking up. It's not in the original.

Doesn't look worse than similar scenes from many big movies. Yeap, people demand ultra-pro results these days. No problem, it's only about stabilizer that would cost probably as much as the car you were driving to shoot the scene... As far as my humble opinion is concerned, when I see such a beautiful scenery, I forget about all tech stuff.

Thanks for posting it!

You'd probably have better luck selling static. So much for artistic interpretation.

Anyway, sure is pretty.

Hi Disjecta,

How did you shoot that beautiful scene over the lake you posted some time ago? It looked like flying. Was that from a boat, helicopter or just admit it: you attached H1 to some poor pelican? :)

disjecta that looked incredible! Unfortunately I did notice the window dots a few times, but being THAT pickey over the horizon line? It sounds like this guy was just trying to be an asshole, this is still great footage.

The built in image stablilizer was turned on and I was balancing the camera on my shoulder.

Sweet. The footage looks really great. I've recently bought a steady stick and it has really come through. It's not so much a stabilizer (although it does stabilizes a little bit) but more of a support that puts all the weight on your hips. Yesterday I put the A1+Letus+heavy 28mm+7"monitor+shotgun mic and the steady stick handled it like a pro. I moved around for hours and barely notice any fatigue at all. It can handle up to 30 pounds. I bought mine new for 88$! I highly recommend it (so long as people realize this is NOT a steadicam).
