Hell of a problem happenned to me

Yesterday, I was setup to shoot a very important happenning. I did a quick test shot, and waited for the show to start. All of a sudden, the iris shut down completely. The LCD indicated CLOSE and MFmacro and nothing could be done. The iris button an wheel became irresponsive. Panic! Tried everything; switching to Full Auto gave me back picture, but completely out of focus. The focus ring, manual focus, automatic focus, push auto focus, none of those were responsive. Many shutdowns and restarts later with no improvements and running out of options, we changed the battery and restart the cam. Same thing, re-pushed the IRIS button and everything came back to normal... 15min into the event.

Anybody here experienced that ? Theories anyone ?

something like this happened to me once .
Luckily it was after the event , right after.But I was scared .So what I did was
reset (page 83) the camera ,removed the battery left it like that for ten minutes .Turned it on and all was well. Unofficially this does a whole system reset !

Im not sure what happened but I believe I was adjusting the Iris and my hand somehow touched the user1/2 backlight button.

He's referring to the "Initializing the menu settings" section of the user manual, which is on page 83.
