heliopan variable nd and mattebox?

hi all
i'm happy owner of a gh2. i use it together with a voiglander 25mm 0.95 (and loving the new 12mm) and heliopan variable nd (77mm)
i shot mainly documentaries and i'm, little by little, building my rig... shoulder mount, audio, mattebox, etc...
researching about mattebox i can't find some info and thats why i ask you... can i use a mattebox together with the heliopan variable nd?
i'm thinking in this one, from genus, but any recomendation would be apreciated...
regards..

Why do you want a matte box? For filters, or just stray light suppression, or looking professional? They're all valid reasons in my book. You can use a variable ND with a matte box, but unless it is a swing-away type, adjusting the ND level will be fiddly and cumbersome. I don't have a swing away matte box, but if I were buying again, I'd get a really expensive one.

hi lucas
thanks for your help...
i think that my answer is... all what you say :Drogar-Happy(DBG): ¡¡¡
i do not have a main preference... sometimes i will want it to protect the lens from some lights, sometimes i will like to throw in a filter (pola, graduated...) and sometime looking profesional (today, early morning, shooting in the quiet city... someone say to us: "are you making locating?" :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
back to the topic, i like the fexibility of variables nd, really fast to work shooting reality...
i will check swing-awat mattebox... any suggestion?
thanks again
regards

I'm in the same situation looking at matteboxes.

The Cinematics looks really nice! What do you think about the Proaim MB-900 which allows for 3 filters? ( looks around $400-%500) http://www.thecinecity.com/eshop/product.php?productid=350

This also looks interesting for a little cheaper, but I think both the filters rotate at once http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRUSMT-Suns...645?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4161844cf5

Now this one is what I'd been looking at before I saw the Cinematics mattebox, the build and design looks pretty solid. But now I'm wondering about the foam insert rings as the Cinematics has what looks like a nice metal donut ring. Any thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-Matte-B...195?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20bf881d93

And as far a cheap goes I thought this was great at $225 but not a swing away yet : http://www.dfocussystem.com/dmatte.php

I wouldn´t buy the India stuff. For some reason the Chinese overtook them and many others in build quality and price range. Search for Trusmt or see here.
