Heads dirty or...?

So I have a tape which I recorded on the DVX a few weeks ago. When I play it back in a new little palmcorder, it is perfect. When I play it in the DVX in VCR mode, it has audio drop out about once every 40 seconds.
Also, I just imported footage into fcp using the DVX and it's also fine with no dropouts.
Is this dirty heads? Will this effect my ability to record with the DVX? If they need to be cleaned, can anyone recommend a quick and trustworthy place in the NYC area?

(My DVX has 400 hours on it and has not yet been cleaned.)

Does anyone have a good place in nyc to get a head cleaning done on both dvx and a smaller palmcorder I use as a deck?
