headphone jack repair cost?

I'm in the middle of fixing my old HVX which has a bad headphone jack. I'm told it will cost $300 in labor and $150 for the part. Does this sound about right?

thanks in advance,

If the repair were that much I would be seeking alternatives. If it is only a 1/8" stereo plug, that should be less than $10. If it part of an ICB, of course that is different. How much to crack the case and make two solder joints; maybe 90 minutes of bench time? At $100/hr for a good tech, $300 seems excessive. Maybe I am out of my depth here, but if you are interested, there are assembly drawings of the HVX on the Panasonic website and other places on the net.

It sounds like they are quoting you on the replacement of the PCB that the jack sit on, and not the connector itself. This board costs approximately $150.00.
I hope this helps.

Not too sure on the costs, but I worked for a company out of Malibu that had their jack replaced and whoever did it put in the wrong one (oops!). Not really sure how that works, but make sure to test it the second you get it back.

it seems for panny to do anything it cost 300 bucks. the cheapest part cost 100. I have a fire wire port that works, but is damaged so the cable falls out. i was quoted 450 for the repair.
