Headphone Feed to Director

How do you get another headphone feed out to the director on an eng shoot? I've been working directly from the camera without a mixer. I do have a small headphone amp(ac with wall wart) I use in my home studio, with multiple inputs and could use that; but I want to keep the camera easy to move from shot to shot without another snake's nest of headphone wires and extensions to move. Do the pro location mixers have multiple headphone inputs built-in? Is there a wireless solution that's not too expensive?

solution 1: a headphone splitter , the director then has to follow with cable and listen to the same sound level as you do. And everyone has to take care of the calbles.... I said EVERYONE :-p

solution2: rent a mixer, like SD442, it has a additional phone plug, so still with same volume for director as for you, and with cable..but the DOP is kind of rescued from it.

solution3: wireless systems, sennheiser has good ones but I forgot the type

A common method is a radio system such as those made by Comtek. The mixer feeds a transmitter. People needing the monitor feed have a belt-worn receiver and headphones or earpieces. This can also be used for talent cueing and IFB as well as monitoring.

that sounds like just the ticket for me.

How about this idea, I have 2 sets of wireless lav rigs:
Since I'm getting my audio from a boom mic, wondering if I could not re-purpose my lav wireless for monitoring? Looking at my Sennheiser g2 wireless rig, I think I may be able to reverse my usual setup; put the transmitter on the camera, the receiver on the director's belt and feed him the headphone signal. I could use the extra receiver for the cameraman monitor, and neither of us would then be tethered to the camera.

One problem there is that the G2's line in is unbalanced, monaural. Your headphone out is also unbalanced... but is stereo. And the receiver output is mono, while headphones are stereo. You can certainly use adapters, but still it's not going to make for a very reliable solution.

C2V would this be a reliable solution?: Sound Devices 2 ch. mixer, mixer feeds Comtek transmitter, transmits to comtek receiver worn by director. And sorry if the following is an obvious question: Where does the mixer take its feed from my Camera, HPX170? From the left/right phono type outputs? Thanks
