Head Cleaning ?

Wondering.
How often to clean cam heads?
I run a 10 second head cleaning tape through the cam at the start of each days filming.
Is this overkill or not enough.
Your thoughts please

Overkill in my book. When I was still using tape it was 50 hours for me. Also make sure to use the same type of tape, preferably of a high grade.
 
way overkill. There's really no point in cleaning them unless you have a dirty head related issue. I only clean mine when it's required by the camera. In other words, when it gives me a "dirty heads message" I have a panisonic pvdv710, one of the first digital pani mini dv cams. ( consumer line) Anyways, I have only cleaned the heads like twice in 13 yrs or so. And it still works as it did the day I bought it. Many people wear out their heads due to overcleaning. "so I been told". I still use 2 xha1, and an hv30, and have never had an issue with heads being dirty... I have only cleaned the XHA1 several times, and I don't recall ever cleaning the hv30. All work perfect.
