Hdx400 = Hvx400?

There was some talk about there being an HVX400 coming out several months after the HVX200 hits the street. The HVX400 was said to have interchangable lenses and record to P2.

I'm just wondering if that was all WRONG and the camera is really the HDX400 which is the 1080i camera.

Is there really going to be an HVX400 or was that talk just a misquote and people were really talking about the HDX400?

I don't think I've heard of anyone discussing an HVX400... we did speculate that there would be a 2/3", interchangeable-lens P2 camera coming (Panasonic teased it at the NAB HVX introduction) but I think we all expected that to be the next iteration of the VariCam.

Yeah, it only makes sense that a full out 1080/24p 2/3" Varicam with P2 is in the works. Drool... But very expensive, I'll bet.

Actually there are already two of these camera's already available however they are Standard Def only. The AJ-SPC700 and the AJ-SPX800 both are 2/3", interchangeable lens, P2 cameras. The big difference between then is that the the SPX800 allows for both 24p and 30p shooting whereas the SPC700 is more of an ENG camera. Panasonic did hint around at more P2 offerings, but with the most recent update to the Varicam having just been released in the last month, a P2 version is most likely quite some time down the road. Until the P2 cards are able to significantly surpass 8GB I don't see see it happening to soon.
