I was just on the zotzdigital.com website and it says:

------THIS IS NOT AN HDV CAMCORDER-except that it will record HDV to Mini DV tape-----

... is this true? Will the hvx200 record HDV to tape? If so, that opens doors to new possibilities.

No way man. The HVX200 does not support HDV and never will.
It seems odd since that sentence contradicts itself! WTF

The ultimate addition to the HVX would be the ability to record DVCPROHD to a drive/firestore/NLE/P2 while at the same time recording a backup on HDV to tape. Man that would be the icing on the cake.

....and then if it could brew up a nice Latte' between takes we'd have heaven in camera form!.....

Honestly though, Panasonic is seriously pushing for tapeless all together. True it would be nice to have a "tape backup" but it wouldn't really be accurate as HDV is only 4:2:0 and DVCProHD is 4:2:2....Someday it will all come together, but for now....this camera (on paper at least) sure seems to lead the pack...we shall see, we shall see....
