I recorded 9 tapes with my Canon XH A1 a couple of weeks ago and two of those won't play back. I see the footage is there when i fast forward and rewind, but when I hit play, the screen goes to blue at most points, and at some, it will play and skip. I have tried playing it back in auto and DV just to be sure it's not a format issue. The tapes are Panasonic dv tapes, which I've been using for years. I cleaned the heads before the shoot and before the capturing process. I've never had this happen before. Any ideas?

If you have access to another HDV cam, you might try them in that to see if you get the same results.
Were these the last two tapes recorded in the series of nine? The heads might have gotten dirty during a tape change, especially if it happened in a dusty area.
You might have had some schmutz on the head. It could have been there while you recorded those two tapes and then dislodged. I've seen that with audio gear years ago.
If the heads were dirty during recording you might not get the images back.
