Hey,

Last couple of months I've been looking at dslrs microphones etc, but i cant seem to settle on anything. The deal is im working with a max of 2500 dollars and my requirements are :

Kit must contain all the mics, adapters, cables, lenses, etc.

Must have a lavalier setup and a shotgun.

Its important that the image quality isnt bad either.

Please help me out here and tell me what you think my setup should be?

Get IS lens if you don't have other stabilizers and you don't shoot mostly from tripod.

GH2 body = $900
Azden SMX10 shotgun = $70
Adapter for mic to GH2 = $15
Tascam DR-03 = $70
Lav = $20
57mm Hexanon 1.4 with adapter= $90
32 GB SD Card= $50
Manfrotto Micro Fluid Head+Opteka Gitzo clone tripod = $130
Olympus 12mm F2 = $800
Opteka Shoulder Mount = $40
Manfrotto QR Plate for Shoulder Mount = $40
Canon FD 135mm 2.8 plus adapter = $100

That should leave you about $200 to spare, more if you ebay some stuff like the GH2 and tripod. Or nix the 12mm F2 by Olympus and sub the 20mm pancake and be $750 surplus or just get the nokton 25mm which BH lists for $820, then you'll probably have about $150 give or take.

Good selection, but I would go for an audio mixer like a jucedlink directly into the camera. Post sync work is OK but can get out of hand if you shoot and spontaneously stop and start the camera all day.

hmm, yeah i thought about that. i will be doing some short movies so i will have many frames changing so it might be tedious, how would you fit the juicedlink in the 2500? i think i might want to save some money on the lens because im buying all this stuff in the states because they dont have anything here except for lenses so i want to use my money wisely for the things i cant get, maybe just a kit lens or a 50mm primes, any ideas?

to the OP,if your shooting narrative films then starting and stopping the camera all day is the norm...and separate sound recording usually yields best results. However if its run and gun or on the fly stuff that's not controlled i'd agree with Rockmore. Either way install magic lantern firmware on the t2i/t3i. The gh2 is also a good option.

hey guys, thanks a lot for all the help, after looking around i got something figured out.... my only worry is what ive heard about the dr100 ntg-2 combo. ive been reading online that the audio levels are very low and you need to bust out the gain to max to get reasonable levels, is this true and how can i fix that? should i go with a zoom h4n instead?
Forgot to add that i want to be cheap on the lenses because i want to get everything i cant purchase here, sd cards, cables, lenses tripods etc i can buy here, thanks again!
