General HDR Workflow

I'm using After Effects to duplicate the clip and on one clip I timeremap to 50 and on the other I take off the first frame and do the same timeremap 50. Next I use blend modes and luma keys to merge the two shots and render it out. Afterwards I then use twixtor to bring it back to my original framerate.

Have you posted any videos showing the results?

I was thinking of trying Twixtor, but I don't own it yet.

How's the motion compared to the workflow provided by the ML team? Smoother?

I haven't posted any videos yet, due the only tests being work related. We ran an HDR cam alongside a 7D for a few shots to test things out. I've also finally gotten the workflow by the ML team to work and I'd say the motion is about the same. I do though prefer the ML method as far as the look of the HDR is concerned. I made a donation to A1ex and he sent a self contained package that's basically a single click to complete the process. Works nicely. I also did a test (which I should post soon) where I shot indoors looking out a window. It turned out beautifully and you can see outside as well as inside. I'm curious as to what others are doing?

It would be nice if others shared their workflow ideas as well here.

I have a workflow i am testing with Premiere Pro CS5. I will upload the footage shortly. It is again a test sequence, shot at ISO 400/6400, at 720P 60 with a T2i. Here are the specs...

1 minute H.264 clip with ML 12.22.11 firmware on Canon T2i, 18-55 IS lens. Cineform custom picture style. Please disregard boring content, poor colors, odd contrast, and smoothness of video.

Here is what i did... i wanted 30P footage (29.97), so i shot in 720P 60 mode knowing i would basically be merging frames (1+2, 3+4, etc) and then reinterpreting it as 29.97 speed, as opposed to 59.94 speed. First i imported the footage as HDSLR 720P 60 footage, selected the clip in the timeline, went to clip, video options, field options, and selected 'interlace consecutive frames'. next i selected the file in the project field, went to clip, modify, interpret footage, and input my desired framerate (29.97). Then i went and messed with it a bit.

i just tossed on auto color, auto contrast, NeatVideo plugin, and sharpen +12 (in that order), file, export to h.264.

Its test footage; took me 5 minutes to shoot, edit, export, and upload. plus horrid weather and a nasty lens.

Playing with GingerHDR plugin for AE/PP CS5 at the moment. Like it a lot better than my PITA way.

new HDR demo tests. I did not color correct or even white balance.
