HDMI via intensity Pro versus log and transfer through fcp

In theory, yes - you'll get uncompressed footage that way. In all honesty it shouldn't make much difference unless you need an intermediary uncompressed format for something like green screen. Any of your delivery options are going to be compressed anyway so if you aren't planning to color-correct or similar, I can't imagine it really making a difference.

I believe the OP is referring to inputting already captured footage.

If that is correct, then I don't see if the Intensity board would improve anything.

I think the OP means live HDMI capture.

I would suspect that Tiger's comments are correct.

Unless the utmost is needed, it will not look that much different.

A lot of these codec numbers are for the lab coats and don't show up in real-world DVD or Blu-ray delivery imho.

What is most important is the AVC codec which is really a nice codec.

test on hdmi

test on hdmi

did some test with capturing from hdmi output.
perhaps someone with hdmi card could try it to see if they can find any difference.

1) if you are working on powerpc, you might want to consider using hdmi card.
as it will work faster than log and transfer and converting to sd through sd card.

2) it have an option of 576p. which is gd for people who are still dealing with sd workflow.

just make some comparison btw my quad ppc and intel mac pro

Then why did the OP compare it to Log and Transfer in FCP?

That only ingests already captured footage.

However, perhaps Vocare could respond on what exactly he wishes.
