k, so I have hooked my GH4 to a 4k Monitor, and a small 7" monitor, and both seem to bury the blacks like I've got something set wrong. ?? Now, the 7" monitor is really cheap so I wrote it off as just not having a quality low end and probably just clipping things off, but this nice, new 4K monitor... it should be okay HDMI in, right?
I looked at a bunch of settings for monitor and TV out on the GH4 but nothing helps.
My main question is: is the 4k hdmi output of the GH4 clipping the darks to 16, and would the external recorders not get all the dark end?
Playback footage via camera does that too.
Of course, setting the camera to 16-235, it works fine. Doesn't 0-255 work on the HDMI output? Like to a recorder?
The on camera LCD looks fine. Pulling up NTSC COLOR BARS on the lcd, I can see all 3 black lines in the bottom right, on my monitors, only see one of them.
in the NLE, everything looks fine (probably boosted by the software) but the scope show me the difference and everything is fine.
