HDD size for 16GB cards for HVX200 1394 host

Hi everyone, I need some advice on GB size for HDD when I'm downloading from the 1994 host mode of the HVX200... I like the "verify" step so I don't want to use USB method.

Since it partitions the HDD I want to know what size/sizes of HDD will give me the most efficient use of the HDD, i.e. the least wasted space. I know the formating takes up space but I don't know how much. thanks for the advice!

I didn't know how much the formating would take up... Barry, please give me your advice on this if you could. I going to be shooting alot of reptiles in HD, what format should I use? 1080i or 720p? also what about fps... for snake strikes, they move very fast. Thanks
 
If you're shooting nature stuff, the guy you want to run your questions by is Kevin Railsback (userid: n8ture). He shoots the most awesome nature footage with the HVX.

you are correct. that wolf footage kevin shot is incredible! and he had just started with the hvx when he shot it! simply amazing footage! thanks for the contact.
