HDC HS9 and AUDIO

I have the HDC HS9 panasonic consumer HD camcorder and there doesn't appear to be a port for an XLR adapter. I have heard ofa USB to XLR adapter. Does anyone know if this would work on this camera? I'm having to use this fora short film and would like to buy a shotgun mike if I can get an adapter to hook it up.

The USB converter won't work. The camera won't recognize it as an audio input stream.

Your best bet, if you can't borrow/rent a better cam, is to use a portable recorder for double-system sound. You'll have to record separately and sync the sound to picture in post, but your camera has no mic input and no accessory shoe.

Ok I see. I didn't think of this till you mentioned another recorder, but I have FCP 6 and have an adapter for XLR to my mac. So I could just create a 24p HD project and record in the timeline using VO tool every time I record with my camera. Then sync it up later which would create a lot more work but fix the issue. Thanks for the tips.
