HD UV filter needed?

Hi guys,
I ordered my A1 with just a regular Tiffen 72mm UV filter, but then I read on a certain thread that you need Formatt HD filters otherwise there will be image degradation. Is this true? What have your experiences been?

Thanks a lot,
Patrick

not sure about the degration, i was more worried at pointing the camera at sunlight. I just got the Canon 72 UV Hase Glass to protect it from UV. I hope i was right at picking it.

i dont own a UV filter, i own a simple tiffen clear protection "filter." however, i do think nice expensive glass would do wonders, although i dont know how much wonder its really worth. My "filter" was $37.00... ive seen some for $150... im sure those must be better, although i dont have that much money to find out.

roger that! mine was a cheapo for $30! hehe. the canon one at B&H.

just received it the other day together with a petrol bag and an impact 970 battery. The battery fits fine in the camera, no getting stuck at all.

Dont use one unless Im a hazardous situation. Then its a clear, or polariser if in sunlight... I do use the pl a lot.
