GH2 HD party almost over

I wish you could have found a bigger font for such a small statement. I bet you also bought 3D cameras last year. How did that work out? :)
 
What most people fail to realize about the whole 4K thing is how much the Internet age has shaped people's expectations of visual quality.

Remember - Youtube, Netflix, etc have billions upon billions of videos - including feature films - that will never be anywhere near 4K quality. In fact, most aren't even HD. People do more and more of their viewing on mobile devices, where resolution beyond HD is unnoticeable.

So, yes, while eventually more and more TV shows and films will be produced in 4K, I think we're at a juncture in the evolution of media where consumer expectations of visual quality are no longer directly correlated to the pace of the technology.
 
I've got a 42" TV, and watch Vimeo videos on that streamed at 720p.
Looks great to me.

IT's as much about ease of use as quality

I think this guy is ahead of his time. Like five to ten years ahead of his time. I also wonder what country he's in that demands everything in "2k 4k."

OR -- he's just another paid blogger for Japanese manufacturers trying to create demand for their new 4k televisions that no one seems to be urgent about buying.

For the rest of us -- focus on your content. Quality content will live on (and earn income) through generations of "newest" display platforms.

Decided to revisit my farewell post, what a spin off it has been, the silence and vacuum filled with colourful defense of HD which I never intended to invoke on others were interesting , nevertheless it does not prevent an indie maker like myself to move to a 4k platform. The discourse should be more of the past versus the future.i simply chose the future and time will prove me right.
