HD Component Output from mac to HD LCD TV

Anyone know a company, besides blackmagic and matrox who makes an affordable pcie analog hd component output card for my mac pro (or firewire to component)?

I simply want to view the final cut pro video timeline on a hd lcd tv with component analog inputs, but the cheapest card, the decklink sp is about $650, and would hope there is something that does just output, no need for capturing, using fs100.

The only thing I'm aware of it Intensity, which is an HDMI output, but doesn't work with progressive footage I believe.

You might try looking at its specs: $249.00 google it.

yep - Intensity is HDMI only and cheapest option there. For analog output to HD, about $1000 AFAIK. There is really no consumer market to speak of, it is all pro gear, why so expensive.

Does your HDTV have an HDMI input? Most of them do. If so, get a DVI to HDMI cable and go from the second DVI out on your Mac's video card and run your HDTV as a second monitor.

Of course that MacPro has a second DVI output.

Run that to a DVI input or a DVI to HDMI output if you want and use the Digital Cinema Desktop (command/F12) to shoot the canvas out.

DVI->HDMI works... but the image is not quite comparable to what you'd get using a dedicated video-editing card... colorspace, contrast, etc. are all somewhat different. So, it's good for seeing detail, having a nice full-res image - but not for critical CC.

ullanta brings up a good point.

We need to be clear about what you are expecting to get viewing this way. If you only want to see your footage on a larger screen out of FinalCut using Desktop Cinema (F12) then the dvi to hdmi will work. (There is no such thing as DVI to component without something like a Matrox MXO.)

If you are wanting to make color judgements or judgements about noise, frame rate jitteryness, etc., then you will need an MXO or video card driving a production monitor.

There have been tons of threads on these topics here so do a few searches.
